I am NOVICE … have just acquired ALTA 3 D printer by Silhouette… can I use any pattern found on Pinshape with this printer? Are there differences in patterns?

Hi, if you mean pattern=3D model yes, you can download anything, as long as it fit in the build volume of your printer.
3D models usually are .stl files, you will need to slice it (with a slicer) to obtain a gcode file to be sent to you printer.
